Father Baker was dead before the community of English Benedictine nuns was founded at Paris, but his teaching was handed on by the nuns from Cambrai. Two of the "Mother Beginners" who began monastic life at Paris in 1652, had been Baker's disciples at Cambrai. These were: Reverend Mother Bridget More, who was elected by the nuns at Paris in February 1652 to lead the new community as their first Prioress; and the nun she appointed as the first Novice Mistress, Mother Elizabeth Brent
